Born into a missionary family as child 5 of 6 children, Daniel lived his first 6 years in Morocco, Africa. He recalls desiring to please the Lord at an early age, and committed his life to Jesus Christ at age 6. Camp played a significant role in his life as a young teen. During the summer of his sophomore year in College, he served as a camp counselor for children with handicaps from New York City. Following college, he married Cindy, his sweetheart for the past 48 years. Together they have 4 children, and 10 grandchildren.
Although their goal was to serve as missionaries in Africa, God interrupted their plans due to health issues of their first child. Dan served as a pastor/home missionary in rural America for 3 ½ years, then served in leadership positions in several churches. In 2001, Dan and Cindy founded Shepherd’s Heart Ministries, to teach, train, and mentor the principles of prayer-ministry, bringing hope, healing and freedom to many. Currently, Dan works as a Nursing Assistant at Gingerbread House.
Dan has been serving Camp David of the Ozarks on the board since its beginning. In addition, he has been Counselor, Grandpa, and Front Porch Mentor, and has helped in numerous building projects. Dan and Cindy donated 10 acres of their farm to Camp David of the Ozarks when Ben and Grace first cast their vision of camp. What excites Dan about Camp David is seeing the young people grow in their faith and character through the challenges they face serving on staff each summer, and seeing them pass on what they learn to others. Praise the Lord for lives touched and changed through CDO!
